Pigeon Proofing of front building face in Sutton, Surrey
The below photo shows a public inn located on the outskirts of London (Sutton) with a newly installed 50mm black pigeon net. The pub in question (The Gander) had been plagued with an infestation of feral pigeons for two decades with several unsuccessful attempts of proofing. Our first task was the removal of any guano, pigeons and old proofing methods (inc plastic spikes & bird wire). We then proofed the building with a combination of netting over large areas of ledges etc and stainless steel avipoint p32 spikes on window sills and any potential perching areas.
The below net from the above property was installed over the front side of the building to protect pigeons from regaining access to their nests. A small flaw in the building design had made the front sign ledge into a paradise home for pigeons with proofing virtually impossible without using the netting method. Old techniques visible was the use of plastic spikes, a totally inadequate solution taking the area of proofing.
