Pigeon Proofing, Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire.
Bridges are perfect shelter for feral pigeons and the below bridge is no exception. Built in 1890 this rail bridge come busy highway have been harassed by pigeons for several years and no official pigeon proofing had been undertaken. This is the largest pigeon net undertaken by our company and to our knowledge (and suppliers) one of the largest undertaken in the country. Our customers required a competively priced company that would be able to work side by side with the scaffolders and painters onsite and proof the entire bridge (5 sections in all) against pigeons. Both the county council and site contractors were more than happy with out proposal and overall work - 2 more bridges are now in the pipe work for completion later this year.
The entire bridge net was installed with stainless steel fixings (including girder clips and clamps) and just under 2000 meters of stainless steel wire!. In some situations including the side of the bridges where clips were unsuitable specially made Hilti angle brackets were used. Originally the netting was estimated to take 15 days however due to scaffolders delays (the net could only be installed when the scaffolding was being taken off) the net took 29 days to complete.
Equipment included the use of a Stanley pneumatic hog ringer (C Ringer), a Hilti 36v T6-a hammer drill and a Hilti DXA-41 Cartridge Gun. All nets installed were UV 50mm black pigeon net and installed with the appropriate stainless steel hogrings.Due to the bridge being a swing bridge, work was suspended on several occasions to allow ships and small vessels to pass by, for general interest please view the 2 video clips of the bridge (with the installed pigeon net) in action.
The above is only one example of our workmanship, please do not hesitate to contact us for further examples of our work. A .PDF catalogue of our work is available on request via our contacts page.
